TECUMSEH FALLS TO CHOCTAW, 7-0
TECUMSEH - A four-run third inning was all Choctaw needed to beat Tecumseh Monday in the Lady Savages’ final tune-up game before regionals later this week.
Tecumseh’s bats stayed silent all day as the Lady Yellowjackets picked up the 7-0 win.
After Harley Sturm got the first two hitters out in the top of the third, Choctaw reeled off three straight singles to load the bases. Another single made it 2-0 and then a triple made the score 4-0.
In the fourth inning, Choctaw put runners in scoring position and picked up a fifth run on a ground out to Lauren Taylor at second base.
Kylie Akehurst came on in relief of Sturm in the sixth and gave up two runs to make the final 7-0.
Tecumseh heads to Lone Grove Thursday for regionals. They face Bridge Creek at 2 p.m. Bridge Creek (12-8, 8-4) took second in District 4A-1 behind 28-1 Tuttle. Tecumseh (17-12, 6-4) was second in District 4A-4 behind Newcastle.
Elk City will take on Regional host Lone Grove (22-6, 11-1) in the noon game.
